The Studios is getting started thanks to the combined efforts and support of the North Sea RegionInterreg project E-Clic and Howest. E-clic is happy to be able to organize conferences, workshops and guest-speakers, which companies in resident at The Studios will always be welcome to take part in. With the success of conferences in 2009 such as Design For Persuasion and Multi-mania and collaborations with VOKA-BRYO and Flanders Investment and Trade, just to name a few, E-Clic looks forward to what 2010 has to bring. Facebook For Parents Eye-tracking, One-Minute Documentaries, Broadband, Start-up Keys To Success are just some of the topics E-Clic is planning events around. As part of The Studios, you will also have the opportunity to make suggestions and tell us what sort of events you would like to see happen!
Contacts and Networks
Next to finances and a viable business plan, contacts and networks are what can make or break business. In The Studios you will have a broad network growing in the offices surrounding you. Beyond that you will have access to VOKA-BRYO, Unizo, Plug Media, Medianet Flanders, MediaDesk, FIT, Design Regio Kortrijk, Leiedal, Innowiz, Flanders inShape, stichting interieur and many others. If we do not know someone you need directly, we might know someone who knows someone you need! And so the network grows…
Howest Network and Research Labs:
With Howest right in the neighborhood you will have valuable information and resources just a short walk away. Howest professors, researchers, alumni, material- lending services and groups such as Adobe User Group, Silverlight, X-Box XNA, Sizing Server, Open Source, Image Recognition, The Industrial Design Center (IDC) and many more will be just beyond your doorstep. You can find out more about what is available via: www.tukortijk.be
More advantages of having Howest as your landlord and neighbor:
Lunch at the Howest cafeteria is cheap and good and brings you into further contact with students, teachers and staff – some whom you might be able to bounce ideas off of, test products on and get advice and feedback from. You also have further access to Howest events, conferences, workshops and receptions as well as access to the library and to the communication department and alumni contacts.
Support to your business:
Though finances come to mind when you hear the word support in the early days of your business, moral support can be just as important! Bart Vanhuysse will be available at The Studios by appointment for advice, just to listen, to use as a soundboard, to help with brainstorming and problem solving and to give feedback. They will be a test audience for your new ideas, services, products and presentations. Though they cannot make any decisions for you, they can be there for moral support and they will always keep their eyes open for leads for you and help to create some synergy. .
Other reasons to have your business:
At The Studios:
You’ll be part of a new project at Howest – a new development that could lead to other such developments and an even wider network – it’s a shared experience in part of something new and exciting that will therefore have some media exposure too, which will be good for your start-up.
You have access to reception and conference space that you can reserve for your company events. The same space will sometimes be used for other entertainment events – separate from work- such as DVD series viewing evenings, book talks, movie nights – we are open to ideas and look forward to your involvement and feedback in making The Studios a good place for you and your company!
The Studios is close to Howest, to a swimming pool, to a park with WIFI access, to the Kortrijk Center and train station, to Paris, to London, to Amsterdam, to Ghent, to Brussels, to Antwerp…
